Allen, TX- Locally owned Pure Movement Dance and Fitness has teamed up with the Student Production Services Department of Allen ISD Performing Arts Center, to create an unforgettable backdrop to the studio’s Wizard of Oz inspired production dance number.
Led by Allen High School Senior Lead Scenic Artist, Celina Doro – the massive transportable set donning Oz’s trademark yellow brick road among sparkling rolling hills under a bright rainbow took over 25 student builders and painters to construct before being passed off to Pure Movement’s Dance Company.
When owner Dusty Solis saw the set she was excited the set design made such an impact. “We told our kids they have to dance up to the caliber of the set the design team built,” Solis says. And that guidance worked. Pure Movement’s Dance Company was awarded a Judge’s Platinum Power Award and their first big trophy at their first competition in February.
“It’s unreal to think that though we just opened our doors in 2013, the kids are already being awarded for their hard work. The community has been instrumental in our success,” says Owner and Company Director Emily Scoville. “We are so grateful that there is so much local talent from our youth.”
Pure Movement and Allen ISD Performing Arts Center continue their growing artistic relationship on May 25, 2014 at 2:30 pm for what owner Solis says, “promises to be a great dance concert for the community.”
